Answers to questions about opening a website, webshop, custom development

Below we have collected some of the questions that have often been asked during the development process. If you can't find the answer to your question, feel free to contact us on any of our contact details and we'll help you get a clearer picture.

How much does it cost to create a website?

It depends on the complexity of the application you want. The complexity and functionality of the site will determine the final price, so we always give you a quote on the basis of prior consultation. We can develop simple websites from 20.000 HUF, and for web shops we can provide a usable system (max. 300 products) from 80.000 HUF.

There will also be a maintenance fee, which will normally include:

  • domain name extension (from 1.700 Ft / year)
  • SSL certificate (from 6.500 Ft / year)
  • hosting service (from 2.000 Ft / year)
  • development of additional functions (optional, subject to agreement)

To ensure that the site is legally compliant, it is advisable to have the necessary documents drawn up by a lawyer specialising in internet law (see What legal requirements do I need to meet to open an online shop?).

How long will it take to get my website / webshop up and running?

up to 1 week if you have:

  • draft menu system for website
  • images to be displayed on the website (e.g. large image on the main page, scrollbar)
  • text content for sub-pages (e.g. introduction, contact page, etc.).
  • for webshop:
    • list of product categories to be sold
    • list of products to sell in excel with their prices, features, etc.
    • images of products to be sold

Of course, gathering all the above materials is rarely feasible in 1 week, but the more detailed plans and content you have, the faster we will be able to build your website.

In essence, this content constitutes the website itself. Once we have the necessary amount to get started, we can produce a beta version of the site, partially or fully populated with the data you send us, or even as a blank skeleton that you can upload and manage manually in the admin interface, within the next day or so.

In case of a webshop, does this include payment by card?

Not for a start-up webshop. The site must be up and running for a short period of time (a few weeks) and there is a variable lead time (1-2 weeks) for credit card payment authorisation.

In order to incorporate instant card payment, the operator must have the appropriate legal background to be able to trade online (see next question).

For the integration of card payments, the Barion service can be used on the pages we have created, which requires that the site operator has a Barion registration and creates an Acceptance Site for the webshop.

The acceptance point will be assessed by Barion and if all legal conditions are met, the acceptance point will be approved (set to Open status), after which the instant credit card payment will be activated as a payment method when the order is placed.

If the Barion registration is done after the website is up and running, and there are no problems on their part (e.g. incomplete company details, legal background, etc.), you can have a functioning online store from scratch in less than a month, where customers can pay for their orders immediately by card.

PayPal payments can be integrated instead or beside of Barion in a similar way as described above.

Of course, no Barion (or PayPal) registration is required for customers to shop on the webshop, the customer must provide their credit card details to pay for the order on the site.

What legal requirements do I have to meet to open an online shop?*

The following requirements

Az itt leírtak csak a Magyarországon bejegyzett vállalkozásokra / cégekre vonatkoznak!

  • ability to pay: the form of business can be anything, sole trader, limited company, etc.
  • register TEOR 4791 (Mail order, Internet retailing) as a branch of activity with the notary of the place of establishment
  • Payment of an environmental product charge (if packaging is used to deliver the products, i.e. 99% of the time)
  • notification of data processing activities to the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information

It must also be displayed on the website in accordance with the obligation to display the General Data:

  • Information before sending your order
  • Obligation to send a confirmation after placing an order
  • Data protection information
  • Delivery information
  • Warranty, guarantee
  • Right of withdrawal
  • Mandatory product information

As each website requires content tailored to the profile of the company/business, its field of activity, etc., it is recommended that the above documents are prepared in consultation with a lawyer specialised in internet law, as in case of problems (incomplete privacy notice, data protection incident, etc.) the operator of the site may be held liable.

A friend / relative of a friend of mine has also put together a website. Why should I pay more - or pay at all - for a service that I can get for free?

Sites that are put together without any real professional knowledge are not worth spending money on, because in the vast majority of cases the end result will be equally "professional".

Of course, for a simple site that requires little further intervention, it may be cheaper to use a free website engine, so you only have to pay for the annual infrastructure costs (domain name, hosting service), but in most cases the operation, maintenance and possible further development of the website is difficult and often involves a complete rebuild of the site.

We undertake the development of simple sites from 20.000 HUF, and thanks to the system used, the site will not run into the errors that occur in a site built without expertise, thanks to the system used.

What more can a site made by you do...

...as a wordpress / joomla based website created with a free website builder?

If all you really need is a simple, template website, a free content manager, a.k.a. CMS. You either need to find a developer who will install the CMS on your hosting and upload the content (you have to pay him), or you have to install and manage the whole system yourself (so you actually "pay" for the development with your time).

Unprofessional settings when installing/operating free CMSs can lead to dangerous security and privacy issues, while the sites we operate undergo regular, state-of-the-art security checks.

The following can be done with such a content manager, either not at all, or only partially, with great difficulty, in a lot of time and at great expense:

  • fully customisable look
  • professional search engine optimization
  • long-term maintenance of the website
  • development of a custom concept-based functionality for the site

We can add any function to the engine that makes it work, which may not exist or may be difficult to integrate.

It is worth considering the above and deciding between using free content managers and custom development.

...and webshop than a traditional rental webshop?

Apart from the three advantages listed above, it is also cheaper in the long run.

You have to pay for these systems every month, for months, for years.

For the sites we develop, in the years following the initial operation, if no further improvements (apart from bug fixes) are needed, the maintenance fee is the cost of the domain and hosting, which is up to 10,000 HUF cheaper than for a "rental" webshop.

What happens if I am not satisfied with the website or the service?

We will do our best to meet all your needs related to website development and maintenance. However, it may happen that for some reason you no longer wish to maintain or operate the site with us.

If we are unable to find a solution to the problem, we will provide you with all the content of the site in a processable format (XML, Excel spreadsheet, etc.). In this way, products, sub-pages, etc. uploaded to the site can be imported and transferred to another system by another developer.

In the admin interface, you can also retrieve all data (e.g. product data) or only a part of it as data (e.g. in an excel sheet) with the appropriate permission (e.g. operator).
